Update – September 2026
The Psychologist Bonus is confirmed for 2026 as well, with funding allocated by the Budget Law. As of the update date of this article INPS has not yet published the opening dates for the 2026 window. In 2025, applications opened on September 15 and closed on November 14, so a similar window in the second half of the year is reasonably expected. Requirements, ISEE thresholds, and procedure remain as described below: it's advisable to obtain the ISEE in advance, because when ISEE is equal, the order of application arrival counts. The Psychologist Bonus, officially the “Contribution to support expenses related to psychotherapy sessions,” is a contribution designed to make a psychological support journey with professionals registered in the Register more accessible. Here are the requirements, amounts, and procedure.
Requirements to apply
To access the bonus, two requirements are needed, both of which must be met at the time of application:
- Residence in Italian territory.
- Valid ISEE with value not exceeding 50,000 euros.
No health certifications or preventive medical prescriptions are required.
Amounts based on ISEE
The maximum amount of the contribution depends on the Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (ISEE):
- Up to 1,500 euros for ISEE less than 15,000 euros
- Up to 1,000 euros for ISEE between 15,000 and 30,000 euros
- Up to 500 euros for ISEE between 30,000 and 50,000 euros
The contribution is worth 50 euros per session and is paid directly to the professional.
How to submit the application to INPS
The request must be submitted exclusively via telematics on the INPS website:
- Access the page dedicated to the service on the INPS portal
- Click on “Use the service”
- Authenticate with SPID (level 2 or higher), CIE or CNS
Alternatively, you can request assistance from the INPS Contact Center, at the toll-free number 803.164 from a landline or 06 164.164 from a mobile phone.
Rankings and selection criteria
Funds are limited, so not all applications are accepted. INPS draws up regional and provincial rankings based on two criteria, in order of priority:
- ISEE value – households with lower ISEE have priority
- Date and time of submission of the application, in case of equal ISEE
What happens if the application is accepted
The outcome is communicated via SMS or email and can be viewed in the “Receipts and Measures” area of the INPS online service. If accepted:
- You receive a unique code to be communicated to the chosen professional
- You can only choose from private professionals registered in the register who have joined the initiative
- The code must be used within 270 days from the acceptance notification
- Attention: those who do not carry out at least one session within the first 60 days forfeit the right to the bonus, which is reassigned
